Switching your weight loss treatment to Oxford Online Pharmacy

If you have been on weight loss medication with another provider, you can switch your care to us as long as you can provide evidence from your previous supplier and your BMI meets the criteria. We need to see your name, the date, and the dose on the evidence you send, and the date on that evidence must be within the last month.

Who this applies to

This article applies to patients currently on a weight loss injection (such as Mounjaro or Wegovy) through another supplier who want to move their treatment to us. It does not apply to patients new to weight loss medication; in that case you should start a fresh consultation from the relevant product page \- this question on the consultation will be irrelevant to you and you can simply put "N/A". 

What evidence we need

To safely continue your treatment, our doctors need evidence from your previous supplier showing three pieces of information:

• Your name.
• The date you received or were prescribed the medication. This must be within the last month for the evidence to be valid.
• The dose you are on.
  
  

All three need to be on the same piece of evidence. If one is missing, or the date is more than a month old, we cannot use it as proof.

Where to find that evidence

The evidence can come from any of these sources, as long as it has all three pieces of information:

• A sales receipt from your previous supplier.
• A previous prescription.
• The dispensing sticker on the box of your medication.
• An email confirmation from your previous supplier.
  
  

BMI eligibility

Your BMI affects whether switching is possible. You can check your BMI using the NHS BMI calculator (https://www.nhs.uk/health-assessment-tools/calculate-your-body-mass-index/calculate-bmi-for-adults).

To switch your treatment to us, your BMI needs to be 30 or above, or 27 or above with a qualifying comorbidity. If you meet that threshold, switching is usually possible with the evidence above.

If your BMI is below that, the doctors will not be able to approve the switch. They prefer that you stay with your original supplier, because they already have the full history of your treatment.

What happens if your evidence is incomplete

If you submit evidence that is missing one of the three pieces of information (for example, you have the dose and the date but not your name), we will let you know what is missing. You can then try to find another piece of evidence with all three details.

If you genuinely cannot find evidence with all three details, the order may need to be amended to something more suitable, or cancelled. The doctors cannot continue without it for safety reasons. It may be worth getting in contact with your last supplier for this information - it is within your right to have proof of previous prescription.

Common scenarios

• You have been on Mounjaro through another provider and have a dispensing sticker with your name, the date, and the dose. This is enough evidence.
• You have an email from your previous supplier but it does not show the dose. Look for another document (a receipt) that does.
• Your BMI has dropped below 30, or below 27 with a qualifying comorbidity, and you want to switch. The doctors will not be able to accept the switch in this case. You will need to stay with your original supplier.
